ICCDP is open to all health care professionals and front line staff who qualify for CDP® certification and/or CMDCP™ certification. ICCDP provides support to professionals that are interested in learning comprehensive dementia education, who value dementia education training, who are committed to ending abuse and neglect and who value certification. ICCDP members who are CDP or CMDCP certified work in all aspects of the health care industry such as nursing homes, assisted living, adult day care, hospitals, hospice and home care agencies, boarding homes, senior centers, physician offices, memory centers, training institutions (colleges, technical schools, nursing and nursing assistant schools, government agencies and associations.

The ICCDP Council was formed to promote standards of excellence in dementia and Alzheimer's Disease education training to professionals and other caregivers who provide services to dementia clients. As the number of dementia cases continues to increase worldwide, there is a great necessity to insure that care givers, front line staff and health care professionals are well trained to provide appropriate, competent, and sensitive direct care and support for the dementia patient. ICCDP was formed in 2015. ICCDP sister company is the NCCDP The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, LLC and was formed in 2003 by a group of professionals with varying work and personal experiences in the field of dementia care. NCCDP is located in Sparta NJ. The council advisory board backgrounds include Nurses, Regional Managers, Nursing Assistants, Consultants, Geriatric Care Managers, Psychiatrist, Dementia Unit Managers, Alzheimer's Disease and related Dementia Care Specialist, Alzheimer's Disease Educators, Dementia Educators, Activity Professionals, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Licensed / Certified Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Dietitians, Pharmacists, Alzheimer's Disease Care Specialist, Long Term Care Administration, Support Group Leaders, Administrators, Owners, Life Enrichment Coordinator, Elder Law Attorney's and Home Care Administration. These talented and experienced individuals cover the broad spectrum of the health care industry and bring valuable life and professional experiences from Adult Day Care Centers, Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, Hospice Agencies, Home Care Agencies, Independent Living Facilities, CCRC, Independent Living Communities, Retirement Living, Senior Apartments, Senior Centers, Hospitals as well as professional boards and non profit associations such as the Alzheimer's Association.

The ICCDP Council was formed to promote standards of excellence in dementia and Alzheimer's disease education to health care professionals, front line staff, caregivers, volunteers and First Responder's who provide services to dementia clients. As the number of dementia cases continues to increase nationally and worldwide, there is a great necessity to insure that care givers, front line staff, health care professionals and First Responders are well trained to provide appropriate, competent, sensitive direct care and support for the dementia patient. Dementia education trains your staff to anticipate, plan and prepare for a crisis and action steps to take for crisis prevention.

Across the world, the laws and regulations are different from country to country regarding requirements pertaining to Alzheimer's disease and Dementia Care education, Alzheimer's Disease Units, Dementia Units, Memory Centers and Special Care Units. Some have extensive regulations for Nursing Homes and Assisted Living while other countries may have no regulations or laws.

Laws and regulations across the world governing Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, Adult Day Care are also different in each country regarding the requirements for staff training and Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Education. Some countries have no requirements, some are vague, others require just two hours of education while other's are extensive.

The Goal of the ICCDP is to promote world wide standards for comprehensive and extensive Alzheimer's disease and Dementia Care Education, CDP Certified Dementia Practitioner certification and CMDCP Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional certification for all health care workers who work with our most vulnerable elders to insure that compassionate and educated care is provided.

Certified Dementia Practitioner ® CDP®, Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional® CMDCP® and
Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional Trainer CMDCPT

The CDP®, CMDCP®, and CMDCPT are global certifications recommended for those working in the health care industry and with the geriatric population. These certifications are a compliment to your chosen profession. The CDP®, CMDCP® or CMDCPT are not a profession, but rather a level of additional Dementia training and Dementia certification that you have received in the area of Dementia care that will enable the health care professional to provide compassionate care.

The CDP® and CMDCP® certifications are a commitment by the professional to end elder abuse and neglect through continuous training in the area of Dementia Care. Worldwide there lacks standardization in the requirements of Dementia education for front line staff and health care professionals, elder care attorneys, educators, geriatric managers who work in learning institutions, psychiatric facilities, rehabilitation centers, associations, government agencies, nursing homes, assisted living, senior communities, adult day care, hospitals, home care and hospice agencies and 55 plus communities.
